The process of selection for the post of Lower Division Clerk / Assistant comprises written examination,
which consists of two parts; Part-I (objective type) and Part-II (conventional
type). Both parts of the test will be conducted on same day. The level of the
test will be of matriculation examination of WBBSE. Go through exam pattern of

Those candidates who take Hindi
or Urdu or Nepali from Group-B of Part-II conventional type examination
will have to pass a departmental examination in Bengali during probation
period. The paper of part-II examination will be evaluated of those candidates
who meet qualifying marks in part-I examination. The merit list will be
prepared on the basis marks obtained in both parts.
Part-II conventional type examination will be based on drafting a
report, condensing of a prose passage and translation from English to Bengali /
Hindi / Urdu / Nepali and vice-versa. To see complete syllabus of the test, go

After selection on the post of LDC / LDA, incumbent will have to clear
the examination on elementary knowledge on computer operation and computer
typing which will be conducted twice a year by State Government at various
places. Those who do not clear this examination will not be able to get the benefits
like increment, promotion as well as other career advancement scheme.
