No.04/2014: Steel Authority of India Limited (SAIL), a government of Indian Enterprise, has issued a notification for recruitment to the posts of Operator-cum-Technician (Trainee) in various disciplines, Attendant-cum-Technician (Trainee) in various trades and OCT (Boiler Operation) for Rourkela Steel Plant (RSP) which is a unit of SAIL. 01. OCT (Trainee) (Various Disciplines)
  • Disciplines: Metallurgy, Chemical, Mechanical, Electrical, Instrumentation, Civil, Mechatronics.
  • Vacancies: 222 Posts (SC-35, ST-49, OBC-27, UR-111)
  • Pay Scale: Rs.16800-24110 (S-3)
  • Age Limit: 18 to 28 years as on 01/10/2014.
  • Qualifications: Matriculation with full time Engineering Diploma of 03 years in relevant disciplines from government recognized institute.
02. ACT (Trainee) (Various Trades)
  • Trades: Fitter, Electrician, Welder, Electronics, Diesel Mechanic, Machinist.
  • Vacancies: 190 Posts (SC-30, ST-42, OBC-23, UR-95)
  • Pay Scale: Rs.15830-22150 (S-1)
  • Age Limit: 18 to 28 years as on 01/10/2014
  • Qualifications: Matriculation with ITI (full time) diploma in relevant trades from a government recognized institute.
03. OCT (Boiler Operation)
  • Vacancies: 20 Posts (SC-03, ST-04, OBC-03, UR-10)
  • Pay Scale: Rs.16800-24110 (S-3)
  • Age Limit: 18 to 30 years as on 01/10/2014
  • Qualifications: Matriculation with full time engineering diploma of 03 years in Electrical / Chemical / Mechanical / Production / Power Plant / Instrumentation disciplines from a recognized institute with boiler operation engineer certificate.
 Physical Standard for all Posts
  • Male: Height-155 cms, Weight-45 Kgs, Chest-75-79. Female: Height-143 cms, Weight-35 Kgs, Chest-70-73 cms. Eye Sight: 6/12 with or without glass with normal colour vision.
Age Relaxation: Applicants belonging to SC/ST category will be provided relaxation in age upto 5 years, OBC will be provided upto 3 years and PWD candidates will be provided by 10 years in case of UR, 15 years in case of SC/ST and 13 years in case OBC Category.

Selection Process: Sail will organize a written examination and Interview for selection of eligible candidates on all the posts. Written Test will be taken in English / Hindi. Only those candidates who are short listed on the basis of performance in written test will be called for interview. Eligible candidates will be informed about Date, time and venue of written test and interview by email and will also be available on www.sail.co.in. Written Test will be conducted at Rourkela, Sambalpur, Bhubaneswar and Cuttack,

Training Period: After selection for post of Operator cum technician & attendant cum technician, candidates will be sent for job training for a period of 02 years. During this period, salary for OCT will be Rs.10700 PM in 1st year and Rs.12200 PM in 2nd and for ACT will be Rs.8600 PM in 1st year and Rs.10000 PM in 2nd year. Duration of training period can be extended for another 2 years if it is required.

Application Fees: UR/OBC candidates are required to pay of Rs.250 for OCT (Trainee) & (Boiler Operation) and Rs.150 for ACT post with addition fee of Rs.30 as bank charges. There is no fee for SC / ST / PWD Categories. Payment of fees can be made at any branch of SBI through Challan by 22/11/2014.

How to Apply: Online application can be filled up till 22/11/2014. Log on to the site www.sail.co.in, go to “Career”, open appropriate apply online link, fill up application form with proper details, uploaded photograph and signature and submit. After this, take a copy of challan for depositing fees as well as download System Generated Registration Slip with unique registration number for further use.
